2019: The Diversity of @CPAC in The Age of #TRUMP & #MAGA
Written by Peter Boykin on July 25, 2018
CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) is an annual conference/celebration event that is an essential part of the right leaning person’s celebration of their political leanings. One of the greatest facts is that CPAC is an event that keeps growing, with attendance topping the 10,000 marks in recent years.
Ultimately, CPAC is a lively four-day experience for everyone, that begins day one with an Activism Boot-camp, and continues with three full devoted days full of great panels, lively discussion, an annual presidential straw poll of attendees, and a great celebrated Ronald Reagan dinner, while uniting political leaders of the conservative movement with the people who make up the movement.
CPAC is attended by a who’s who of conservative pundits, where the rock stars are leading conservative voices including right leaning social media e-celebs, up and coming grassroots activists, best-selling authors, local social icons of the movement, regular Joe America, and elected officials from across the United States. The whole event is hosted by the ACU (American Conservative Union)
ACU founded and hosts the annual event which is presented as the “birthplace of modern conservatism. CPAC combines ideas with activism to leverage the strength of thousands of grass-roots activists to break through the resistance of Washington’s powerful elites.” This combination of knowledge and activism is critical to the advancement of the right leaning and conservative movement.
CPAC this year as in the past years will be happening right outside of our nation’s capital at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center from Feb 27th – March 2nd, 2019 which also makes great timing for this year’s 3rd Annual March For Trump which is also being promoted as a #ComeOutForTrump event and March For America on March 3rd in Washington DC and will this year be hosted by TheMAGANetwork.
On the surface, the annual Conservative Political Action Conference is a festival of red meat Republicanism, part pep rally, part college spring break bash, but better yet it is now a reflection of the diversity within the Republican Party in the age of Donald Trump. Though at its core CPAC is a conservative boot camp, marketing and trade show tool, job recruitment event, and a great place to get your MAGA swag and conservative merchandise. As President Ronald Regan said about it in 1985 “CPAC is the opportunity to dance with the one who brung ya.”
CPAC not only brings out great speakers, seminars, and workshops, but the audience and attendees are what really breathes life into this event. With this audience CPAC turns into one of the loudest, rowdiest, and most diversified events of the year and certainly even more since Donald Trump took office in 2016. Trump has attended and has given keynote speeches in the last two years events and is someone that is anticipated and expected to speak again.
The NEW Republican Party of the age of TRUMP is one of deep contradictions. One thing is certain is that the GOP is not your Grandfathers Grand Old Party and maybe not even your fathers. Which is reflected in the diverse attendees of CPAC. Republican leaders cannot ignore the activists’ enthusiasm, and therefore CPAC is a great coming out event for both old school republicans, and those who might be new to the party and are fresh from the #WalkAway movement just looking to get their feet wet now that they have moved to the right.
One thing is for certain, CPAC 2019 is the Place you want to be to start off another Great year of Trump and #MAGA which is now all about Making America Great Always (for everyone).
