Report: Trump Frustrated by Perception of Iran Strategy

President Donald Trump is irritated at the impression that some of his national security advisers are steering him closer to an armed conflict with Iran, CNN is reporting.
The news network attributed the information to people familiar with the matter.
But CNN said Trump has indicated his desire to speak with the Iranians. However, the likelihood appears to be slim, CNN said.
Trump is convinced a large-scale military action with Iran would be devastating politically, according to the CNN sources. And he does not want to appear to go against his campaign promises to curtail foreign entanglements.
He reportedly is frustrated at suggestions that advisers, led by national security adviser John Bolton are pushing him to war. And CNN reported he has complained to outside advisers about Bolton allowing the Iran situation to reach a point where armed conflict is a possibility.
But White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders denied Thursday any divisions existed in the administration over Iran.
“There’s only one person that was elected to make those decisions and that was the president,” she said. “He’ll be the one that decides.”
And last week, Trump told reporters he was satisfied with Bolton.
“He has strong views on things but that’s okay,” Trump said. “I actually temper John, which is pretty amazing. I’m the one that tempers him. That’s okay. I have different sides. I have John Bolton and other people that are a little more dovish than him. I like John.”
